Now, Later, and Forever || Giddy

Now, Later, and Forever || Giddy

Now, there weren’t many people that Thaddeus could count on and that would openly admit that they believed he’d changed or that he wanted to. His job had kept him in the same network of people and he had the fresh cuts and bruises to prove it. There wasn’t much that could be done unless he uprooted himself. Now that Giselle was pregnant and mad the effort to move in with him he felt like he wouldn’t be responsible if he didn’t try to find a new job. Interview after interview fell through and he grew more and more discouraged. Keeping himself somewhat motivated by leaving his problems at the door and trying to do everything he could to prove to Gigi that he could be the man she deserved he found himself at a crossroads. That crossroads happened to have a ring and a promise.

The ring had been easy for him to pick but he hadn’t been able to think up the right way to ask her. She wasn’t an emotional roller coaster but she was particular about what she wanted to eat ruling out the classic asking her at a nice restaurant. Tucking it in his sock drawer for a few days he spent the last night writing something up during the stake out. He wasn’t the type of guy that was good with words or even the type that talked at all- not about sports or beer, especially not the future. None of it might have been easy but he wanted to make it clear he wanted her forever and not just because they were having a kid.

The next morning, like every morning, he woke up early to head to the gym before he headed to the BC. Pulling the little box out of the drawer he kissed her on the forehead and left for work leaving it on the nightstand with the note. Maybe it was a bit of the cowardly way to do it but he kept these sorts of things at a distance. He didn’t want to admit it but he didn’t know what he’d do if he had to watch her say no.

Later that night when he got off work he paced in front of the door before he stepped in, heart racing. When he found her he was even more surprised that he couldn’t make himself look at her hand. Kissing her forehead he rocked on his heels awkwardly. “I…before you say anything, I just wanted you to know that today I quit my job. I want the best for you and I want to be what’s best for you. I can’t do that here and I can’t do that back home. So, what about France?” He cleared his throat and wrapped his arms around her. “Your France can be our France.”

Moving to France was never part of Thaddeus’ plan and he wasn’t really religious or anything but he couldn’t say he’d ever picked anything up as quickly as he had French. It all helped out when they’d gotten married and moved there. His love for Giselle, her family, and his new job restoring old buildings in the city was the quiet life he never thought he’d get or deserved. He knew it wouldn’t last forever, but he also didn’t think that he’d welcome the change- that it would be a good change, and then after 14 hours of delivery he met his son, Thaddeus Kendrick Watson. TK might actually be the first and only thing he ever loved as much as Giselle. One thing was finally certain, he was happy and he didn’t have to be worried about stabbings and shootings or losing the people he cared about. No, he finally felt like Ivy might be right- he deserved to be happy.

It felt like a morning like every other morning lately. Giselle felt Thaddeus get up, knowing he would be heading to the gym before work, as per usual. He kissed her forehead as he always did, and she smiled a little, keeping her eyes closed, and listening to him leave. She sighed contentedly and fell back asleep. It wasn’t until it was time for her to wake up for work, that she realized something was actually very different about this morning. She reached over to turn off her alarm, but her hand found something else instead. Sitting up, she found something she couldn’t have ever imagined to find on her nightstand.

After her alarm was off, she sat on the edge of the bed, note and box in hand. Her heart was beating rapidly, as she read over the words that Thaddeus had written, unable to believe that what she was reading was real. Unfortunately, time didn’t allow her to sit there and reread the note. She got ready for work as quickly as she could. Running her hand over her stomach, she sighed and before leaving grabbed the small box, and the note and heading out of the door.

The day seemed to drag on, and she read the note what seemed like a million times, and when she was home, she had to wait impatiently for Thaddeus to arrive. She’d made her decision, and so when she heard the door opening, she slipped the ring on her finger, and she practically couldn’t contain her happiness at the sight of him. There was no other answer for her, and she knew that even if there hadn’t been a baby, this would have been what she wanted. What she hadn’t expected was for him to say that he wanted to move them to France…… home….

Life was completely different in France, but the best part was that she had everything that she had ever wanted. She had Thaddeus, she had her baby, and she had her family. She knew the sacrifice that Thaddy made by leaving behind Gavin and Kit as well. It wasn’t easy for him at all, but he seemed happy, she was happy. Everything seemed just as it should be… just as she’d hoped it would be. With TK, and Thaddy, life seemed perfect, and she couldn’t have asked for more.

Oh god.. I was hoping you forgot how to use the internet.

Oh please, the only one out of the two of us who could forget, would be you. Like the other day when you asked for my expertise at work.

darcy-hughes:

Aww, why is that? You’re cute as a button.

I’m not so sure about all of that! It’s an opinion only you might have… and maybe one other person in my life right now.

You’re welcome, and thank you as well. I haven’t seen you around here before!

That’s probably because I’ve been hiding quite a bit lately…

Yes, I’m relatively new. Me and computers were at war until recently.

Well! Clearly you’ve won! Congratulations!
